Real-life insights on planning, animal care, and building a farm responsibly — shared from lived experience.
Starting a farm or homestead isn’t just about animals or acreage. It’s about time, routines, responsibility, and long-term care.
At Bear Ridge Farm, we believe clarity should come before action. Farm life is built through small, thoughtful decisions made consistently over time — decisions that shape both people and animals. This space exists to support that kind of steady beginning.

Bear Ridge Farm is a working farm rooted in thoughtful growth, animal care, and intentional decision-making.
Life at Bear Ridge Farm is shaped by daily work, steady routines, and seasons of learning. While much of what we share comes from hands-on experience, I’m also grateful for the wisdom of family members who have farmed for generations and continue to guide me as the farm grows.
We believe no one builds a good farm alone. Mentorship, shared knowledge, and learning from others are essential to caring well for the land, the animals, and ourselves.
For those who want a more structured way to think through farm life, we created the Beginner Farm Clarity Guide — a 10-step framework designed to help families plan responsibly before making big decisions.
The guide focuses on clarity before action. It helps you slow down, assess your capacity, understand animal care responsibly, and make decisions in the right order — before animals arrive or money is spent. This resource is a digital download and was created to support thoughtful planning, not pressure or urgency.

We share reflections and lessons learned as Bear Ridge Farm grows — including planning insights, seasonal observations, and considerations around animal care and sustainability.
These are real-time learnings shaped by daily experience, questions asked along the way, and guidance passed down through mentorship.
Recent topics include animal care decisions, infrastructure planning, and what it looks like to grow a farm responsibly over time.
